Progen Scientific has teamed up with TKA to supply an exciting new range of high purity water systems and accessories. Details of the products will be released over the coming weeks and includes Ultrapure Systems, Cartridges, Water Softeners and Reverse Osmosis Systems. This week the focus is on the range of TKA High Purity Water Systems, TKA Micropure.

TKA MicroPure

This is a modularly constructed ultrapure water system, developed specifically for laboratories needing only small volumes of ultrapure water. The quality of the water produced fulfils the requirements for the most demanding laboratory applications, such as sample preparation, the rinsing of highly sensitive glassware and instrumental analyses (AAS, HPLC, ICP, GC, AOX, TOC). The new, elegant design of the system and the MicroPure whisper quiet operation, makes TKA MicroPure an uncompromising ultrapure water system for the most critical demands.

Martini Mi 151 pH/ ORP (mV) temperature bench meter

With similar specification to the martini Instruments Mi 150 the Mi151 has the ability to measure with ORP electrodes thanks to its capability to measure mV with a resolution up to 0.1mV.

Martini Mi 160 pH/ ORP (mV)/ ISE/ temperature bench meter

The Mi 160 pH / ORP (mV) / Temperature meter is ideal for very accurate and precise measurements for all laboratory needs. It can perform ion-selective measurements directly in ppm, as well as pH, ORP and temperature measurements. pH calibration can also be performed in 3 points, selectable between 7 memorised buffers, to provide a very accurate calibration curve even when testing different samples where very wide differences in pH can be found. Thanks to the memory it can store up to 50 data sets for each range that can be downloaded to a PC via RS232 or USB. These instruments also have GLP features so, at any time, the user can recall the calibration data.

* C1301 Spectrafuge mini microcentrifuge

Spring is here; time to get freezing

The Cryodos bench top laboratory freeze dryer, the latest in bench top freeze dryers, has been introduced by Progen Scientific.

The Cryodos laboratory freeze dryer has been specially developed for use in research and biotechnology institutes. Constructed according to GLP requirements the unit is robust, simple to use and low maintenance. The unit is available as two models (-50C and -80C) with a range of accessories.

The table top unit houses the refrigeration system and there is a sturdy, dual stage vacuum pump included.

The Cryodos packs a host of features including:.

Two stage vacuum pump supplied with gas ballast and oil mist filter to remove water vapour and other condensibles.

Air cooled hermetically sealed refrigeration system with ozone friendly refrigerant.

Condenser made with co-axial coil inside a drum manifold.

A transparent acrylic lid allows the ice forming process to be viewed.

Supplied ready to work with different accessories such as a manifold with eight 18mm diameter rubber valves allowing several accessories (eg flasks or vials) to be connected as required by the user to provide simultaneous freeze drying.

Shake and mix with Progen mixers and shakers

Elmi Intelli-Mix RM2. is the first of a series of new shaking and mixing products being launched by Progen.  

Progen Scientific supplies a wide range of mixers and shakers to meet every laboratory need, and now announces details of new products available from Elmi. These products will be detailed on Laboratorytalk over the next few weeks; the first is Elmi Intelli-Mix RM2. The advanced RM2 combines a variable speed rotator and multiple tube mixer in one machine.

The RM2 offers a vast selction of racks and operating regimes so that the user can benefit from any combination of mixing from gentle, low speed hybridisation through to vigorous test tube vortexing with a range of tube sizes from 0.5ml to 50ml.

Continuing the trend of providing the latest quality equipment for today's laboratory, Progen Scientific introduces the FastPette V2; the latest tool for high precision motorised pipette control.

The new Labnet FastPette V2 is a high precision motorised pipette controller for use with glass or plastic pipettes with volumes ranging from 1-100ml. The new upgraded valve system permits slow aspiration and dispensing speeds with light pressure on the trigger buttons. The design also incorporates a lightweight, contoured handle with comfortable push buttons that ensure effortless pipetting even with extensive use.

The EcoVac system raises the standard for laboratory safety when working with potentially infectious material in laboratory environments. With a range of optional accessories the Evovac offers a wealth of features including an autoclavable collection bottle, available in 2litre or 4litre sizes; is manufactured from break resistant, chemical resistant polypropylene; self-locking fittings in screw cap providing hermetic sealing during transportation and autoclaving; low noise membrane vacuum pump providing 300mbar at four litres per minute (optional); and a foot switch for intermittent use (optional).

The Mplus manual model has a high mass (2.3kg) to provide long running.

It accommodates 100mm dishes on one side then turns over to accommodate 150mm plates on the reverse side.

The dimensions are 150mm diameter x 45mm high.

The Eplus model is electrically driven and has continually adjustable but constant speed (10-80rpm).

Specifically designed for the safe removal of surplus liquid, especially in biological safety cabinets the HLC range is available as three systems with varying suction capacities from 4-30l/min and two sizes of suction collection bottle manufactured from high durability autoclavable polypropylene. The basic AZ system consists of a 4l/min membrane suction pump with either two or four litre autoclavable polypropylene bottle with screw cap; fast locks plus 3m of silicone tubing or a safety filter between the bottle and pump.

The system is provided with a stainless steel bottle holder.

Also available in larger capacity AC system consisting of a 14l/min suction pump and the AF system consisting of a 30l/min suction pump.

Progen Scientific launches the Schuett Phoenix gas safety burner - the intelligent and flexible laboratory burner with digital technology.

The compact, stainless steel electronic burner is supplied with a stainless steel foot-switch and can be used with a variety of gas sources including natural gas supply, bottled butane/propane or gas cartridges. The Phoenix has three novel and safety focused modes of operation.

The first mode is via the adjustable IR sensor control, where the sensor distance can be set so that the burner is activated by a hand movement in front of the display, as well as the adjustable preset time after which the flame automatically stops The second mode is via the foot-switch where gas supply and electronic ignition are activated by a foot switch.

The foot switch can be set to operate with constant pressure applied or by a one push on one push off function.

The final mode is manual control using the air/gas control knob.
