Telstar Biological Safety Cabinets (BioUltra)

BioUltra are top of the range Class II cabinets, type A2, aimed to provide protection of the operator, samples and environment. BioUltra has been designed to be certified to standard EN 12469-2000, and also meets main requirements to fulfil all needs of NSF 49.

Certification is supplied by authorised European entity TUV Nord. The complete certification process is more than just the testing of one cabinet but encompasses:

• - full checks of the BioUltra features, including type testing, factory testing and routine maintenance testing
• - full checks of the production installations and procedures to ensure a constant quality, including an annual factory inspection
• - moreover, the cabinets must comply with European directives relating to Electromagnetic Comaptibility (EMC) and Electrical Safety

They are suitable for pathogenic agents of levels 1, 2 and 3 in the various fields of pharmaceutic, academic research centres, biotechnology, hospital and medical laboratories, Q.A. laboratories, etc. Largely exceeding standard requirements with unique features, BioUltra acts as a trustful Bodyguard.

Ultra safety

• Telstar's patented and unique front window closing system that combines a motorised sliding window with an inflatable gasket giving the following advantages:

- easy and safe cabinet decontamination process; no need of any additional sealing (e.g. plastic bag or night door) nor operator special skills to get the cabinet sealed and no risk of chemicals leaks to the workplace

- the working chamber can be completely isolated from the outside

- the leaktightness of the cabinet is issued even when the power is off and alarm is activated in case of seal failure

• Power cut detection and automatic front aperture closing and sealing (due to battery back-up)
• Turbo exhaust key reinforces the operator protection when needed
• Automatic turbo exhaust activation when the front window is above the working position

Ultra comfort / ergonomics

Operators working several hours at a cabinet deserve good working conditions. Noise and uncomfortable working position are stressful, distracting and even painful after hours of work.

• BioUltra noise at only 55 dBA is several times lower than the most stringent standards requirement (60 dBA)
• Sloped, glareless window improves body position
• Motorised window with fully closed position to avoid the need of a night door
• Armrest above bench level allows are barrier to surround the operator's arms
• Visible command / control panel with large LCD screen
• Light intensity higher than 1000 lux

Ultra user friendly

• Automatic compensation of filter clogging substantially extends both filters' life times. BioUltra controller calculates and displays filter clogging status: filter replacement can scheduled only when necessary, thus reducing service expenses
• Hinged front panel for servicing and window inner side cleaning
• Gas spring supported front panel for easy service operation
• Quick filter tighten / untighten devices reduces main filter replacement time
• Two level password protection replaces keyswitch to prevent non-authorised use or service. This system eliminates the consequences of losing the key or remote control and / or accidental activation of the keyswitch

User friendly controls and control panel

Simultaneous display of working parameters: downflow velocity; inflow velocity; exhaust flow; chamber temperature; % clogging of laminar / exhaust filters

• Self-compensation for the clogging of filters optimises filter life time
• The unique turbo exhaust function which reinforces operator protection when window is above working position or manually operated
• Multilingual menu: English, Spanish, German and French
• Automatic positioning of front window: fully open, working and fully closed
• Remote window positioning keyboard on cabinet frame for easy operator access
• Maintenance: UV light timer; decontamination process; alarm report; maintenance history; components run time; and more
• Set-up menu to change or deactivate the password, lock the controls and get the emergency code
• Dry contact to be used for remote alarm monitoring or connection to BMS
