Heating Digestors with Temperature Ramps

The heating digestor is a widely used instrument in laboratories performing analysis for different applications, such as wet digestions in the Kjeldahl process for protein determination and analysis in the environmental field. The temperature range from room temperature to 450oC satisfies all the requirements for standard and Kjeldahl digestions.

The analysed sample is up to 15ml. for liquid or 5g. for solids. The digestion time varies according to the treated material and to the used methods. The Velp digestors allow the user to work in reproducible conditions, with full safety, saving chemicals, time and space in comparison to the traditional methods.

It is possible to remove the evolved fumes using specific accessories without the use of a fume hood. The structure of the digestors is manufactured from stainless steel and is protected by a special resin and paints giving a high resistance to chemicals and mechanical corrosion.

The heating block holding the test tubes allows an optimal distribution of heat at all the selected temperatures. The temperature is controlled by dedicated electronics with a microprocessor. The temperature probe does not require calibration, which is performed by the electronics at each temperature increase. This allows very good precision and repeatability of the test. It is possible to upgrade the software of new version via a PC for the innovative electronics with microprocessor.

It is possible to choose up to 20 work programmes. For each work programme it is possible to select up to four temperatures with the corresponding durations. According to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) it is possible to send the data related to a performed test to a printer or PC for storage.

Important

In digestions evolving fumes, acid gases and corrosive (e.g. Kjeldahl) we suggest the use of Velp systems for sucking and neutralising them; Recirculating Water Pump Type JP and Scrubber Type SMS.
