Extractors for Raw Fibre Determination

The analysis of raw fibre in food and feed is important and interesting for several reasons, but some of the technical issues about reliability, reproducibility, ease of use, were, up to now, only partially solved, whichever method is used (Weende, Van Soest).

Velp Extractor Model FIWE 3 and FIWE6

Considering the profusion of problems related to nutrition in general terms, Velp introduced the FIWE 3 and FIWE 6 units for raw fibre determination, intended for small and medium sample throughput, which is an appropriate answer to those issues.

F30520204: Velp Cold Extractor Model COEX, 6 places

Supplied with 6 glass crucibles.

Samples to be submitted to raw fibre determination should have a fat content lower than 1%. If the fat content is higher than 1% then a preliminary extraction of ground material using acetone, hexane or petroleum ether is performed. The COEX equipment allows a rapid defatting of samples in the same glass crucibles used with the FIWE 3 and FIWE 6 for subsequent crude fibre determination.
